Sunlit Memories

Memories flit about like butterflies
Dancing out of reach,
Elusive, unpredictable
As translucent as camera film,
There, but not quite,
Insubstantial in the darkness.
But then hope, a reversal,
Held up to the sunlight
Those memories flutter to life,
Settling where they find the nectar
That is your love.
Feasting on the nourishment,
Arching into the golden glow,
Their wings resplendent in the sunlight,
Shimmying, scattering their scales,
A kaleidoscopic bounty of Iridescent photographs
Filling your soul with colour,
Taking away your pain.
