Cake in a Cup

I’m about to do something I thought was unthinkable. I’m posting a recipe. It’s likely to be the one and only time I do, so make the most of it!

This makes a chocolate cake in a cup, in the microwave, in no time at all. A friend posted an article on Facebook and after I’d read that, I followed a link from there to this and decided it was simple enough that even I could do it – and it is!

Ingredients (they’re British, sorry, US folks!):

3 level tbsp plain flour
2 tbsp cocoa
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp caster sugar
Pinch of salt
6 tbsp milk
2 tbsp vegetable oil

Put all of these in a jug and mix thoroughly for a couple of minutes until it becomes glossy.

Divide the mixture between two microwaveable mugs.

Microwave each mug separately on full power for 40 seconds for 700w or 30 seconds for 800w. This leaves a puddle of hot, still molten chocolate sauce in the centre of the pudding, which will solidify into a lovely fudgey substance as it cools. If you fancy something less gloopy, microwave for 50-60 seconds.

All done in about 5 minutes! šŸ˜€

So there you are – have a weekend treat!
