My son, the triathlete…
Never give up!
You may know my sonβs story. For once, I have no problem repeating it for those who do not. I have a very good reason for it that I have been bursting to share!
In 2009 my son was 25β¦ a good looking, successful young man with a fast car, nice apartment near the coast and a very promising career. That ended on July 4th when he was left for dead in a Bournemouth alley, stabbed through the brain in an unprovoked attack.
I have written before of the terror of the next days as he underwent brain surgery to remove the shards of shattered bone from the left hemisphere of his brain. I have told of the weeks of heartache as we waited to see if he would live or die, while his brain bled and swelled, causing further damage to the brain stem itself and shared both theβ¦

We quite often post positive images of people with disability just getting on – well, more than just getting on! – with life under the category My Unconquerable Soul. Inspired by the Paralympics and the Invictus Games – maybe we’ll see your son representing us at the Paralympics in the future! It certainly sounds as if he has the determination needed to achieve that π
Good luck to him for the race, hope he gets a PB!

He’s only been riding for three weeks… before that his only mode of locomotion was an electric wheelchair outside… he still can’t walk unaided. So pretty much anything he does is likely to be a PB π Mind you, he’s determined to race well too π

A truly moving story … the willingness to face such odds is not common, and I wish this young man all the best in a future that has been made possible because he refused to yield in his determination!

Thank you… he has worked incredibly hard to assure he has a future… and I couldn’t be prouder of my son.

Well they always say you should measure your progress not by comparing yourself to someone else, but by comparing yourself against what you did yesterday. Good look to him, and you. And keep us all posted π

He seldom looks back. At one point that was too heartbreaking… now he simply forgets how far he has come. I don’t… and he has come such a very long way π
