Had a bit of a panic then; doubled checked I got the quote right 😀
Pretty much everything that came out of Rumi’s mouth is beautiful and true, isn’t it?
I can honestly say that until reading this quote from him and looking him up in Wikipedia, I had not known much at all about him. I’ve encountered a few of his quotes here and there; but this one quote is what led me to look more closely at him. I will probably wind up reading more about him in the days to come – thank you for tipping me in this direction 🙂

This quote sums up exactly what I was feeling when I created Upon Raven Wings … I had recently escaped a cage of sorts, one that had contained me since childhood, and I had recently discovered the Raven within. The most important thing you can do in that situation is take the leap away from the cage and fly – or run, however your imagery works. Freedom is not just being outside of the cage, it is leaving the cage behind.
I have never read this quote before; but I’ve encountered the sentiment embodied by it in my life and can attest to its wisdom 🙂
