Random Fact: Grapes
Studies have suggested that grapes are effective against heart attacks, asthma, migraines, indigestion, kidney disease, dementia and fatigue.
Botanically, grapes are not fruit but berries, and there are about 60 species of grapes, divided into over 8,000 varieties.
The official world record for eating grapes is eight pounds, 15 ounces in 10 minutes. This was set in 2005 by Cookie Jarvis of New York who was also world ice cream eating champion.
On average one acre of grapes can produce about 15,000 glasses of wine.
John Steinbeck’s 1939 novel The Grapes Of Wrath took its title from a line in the Battle Hymn Of The Republic: “He [the Lord] is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored.”
A 1996 book about hangovers was called The Wrath Of Grapes.
